Private boat repair is Technicomposit's main activity. Thanks to the experience and marine background of its employees, this company has very quickly become an obvious leader for the boat handling companies situated on the Côte d'Azur .

Surveyors, builders (Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau, Nautor's Swan.), architects or engineering departments concerned with boatbuilding regularly call on our expertise and our ability to solve problems connected with damage to sailing or motor vessels, or construction defects in various craft.

Repair of a cruising catamaran (ORAVA) on RANGIORA atoll (Tuamotu).

ORAVA, a 57' Fountaine Pajot catamaran had been beached for 6 months on the Rangiroa Atoll in the Tuamotus (French Polynesia), and was to be restored locally, in accordance with the requirements of the tax-free law in French Overseas Territories .

We took responsibility for the boat on 3 rd January 2002 on the atoll's coral reef, and delivered it to Papeete ( Tahiti ), ready to sail, on 8 th August 2002 , in accordance with the contract (no delay could be accepted, as the boat was intended for charter use).

A team of 5 specialists, trained for difficult missions

(laminator, joiner, electrician, refrigeration engineer and mechanic) was sent from France for 6 months, to rebuild this boat, which had been abandoned since July and completely ransacked (there was no keel and there were enormous holes in the bottom of the hulls, so at high tide it filled up with water).

The only means of handling we had were the digging machines on the atoll (a mechanical shovel, which we used to help unstep the mast, a backhoe loader to pull, and to prepare the access routes, plus the grocer's trailer, which normally served as his means of transport between the landing stage and his depot, but which could support the weight of the empty boat). A makeshift boatyard was set up on land rented from the locals, which gave access to the lagoon for launching. The mast was re-stepped, using the derricks aboard the schooners which transport foodstuffs and passengers between Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands .

10 tonnes of equipment was dispatched from France by sea and air freight. A complete boat in spare parts was ordered, sent and dispatched to the wreck, then fitted locally by our 5 specialists.

We established faultless coordination between the team managing the supply in France and the team working on the atoll 28,000km away; we consulted permanently by e-mail, photo reports and fax, despite the 12-hour time difference and the customs obligations. The boat was completely restored, despite the distance and the climatic difficulties.

No, this operation is not fiction, it is reality, resulting from the demonstration of our expertise, our maritime background, our ability to adapt according to the circumstances, our competitiveness, our ability to work as a team wherever the job is situated and our understanding of logistics.

ORAVA is still sailing in the South Pacific.
